Chicago French Film Festival

Chicago French Film Festival 2011

July 22 – 24

The Music Box Theatre, located at 3733 N. Southport Ave, is going to present different French Films this weekend. All are supported by the Cultural Services of the Consulate General of France in Chicago, Institut Francais, Sofitel Chicago, and Unifrance.

The movies that they are going to play will be a taste of France for everyone. It is well known that the French love dramas, or at least that’s what is often reflected in their films. The major difference one can find is in the way plots are developed; the vast majority are not about just one person, but rather about a group. While a lot of American movies present just one hero, or one funny guy, or just one person’s problem, European movies often present group problems, that must be solved by the group, instead of by the individual.

Here is a list of the movies I liked. Check all the movies, schedules and prices here.

Romantics Anonymous July 22, 7:45pm Jean-Pierre Améris , 2010, 80m

Hands Up July 23, 2:30pm Romain Goupil, 2010, 90m

Love Crime July 23, 5:30pm Alain Corneau, 2010, 106m

The Hedgehog July 24, 7:00pm Mona Achache, 2010, 100m. CLOSING NIGHT PRESENTATION
