Smart phone competition registration: April 28 – August 10 ($50.00)

(Those entering the smart phone competition must shoot the entire film on a Smart Phone. Teams may consist of no more than 2 crew members)

Shootout Rules and Requirements:

The 72-hour time frame begins August 12 at 8pm.

All Submissions must be turned in by August 15 at 8pm. Failure to submit your film in within the 72-hour time limit will result in disqualification for the Critics’ Award. Late entries (within reason) will still be viewed in order of their submission and will remain eligible for the Audience Favorite.

All creative aspects of the Submission must be completed within the 72-hour time frame. Any original work done in advance is prohibited. Creative work includes, but is not limited to: shooting, script writing, editing, rendering, rehearsal, etc.

Organizational tasks are allowed prior to the Windie City Shootout 2011. These tasks include, but are not limited to: organizing cast and crew, securing equipment, securing locations, etc.

The completed film Submission must be a minimum of 5 minutes in duration and a maximum of 10 minutes.


Entries must be submitted as one of the following media types:

  • self-contained Quicktime movie (on a data DVD or USB flash drive)
  • playable DVD
  • BlueRay
  • Mini DV tape

Films will be screened August 14-26 and will be shown on a first-come first-served basis in regard to Submission.

Awards and winners will be named at the closing event on Saturday, August 27.
