Robin Dluzen
Independent Pictures has announced a call for entries for two competitions to be juried by two incredible line-ups of film industry professionals. These are both unprecedented opportunities for filmmakers and screenwriters –especially from the Midwest!– to submit works for feedback (for everyone who enters), audiences, awards and/or cash prizes.
The Ohio Independent Screenplay Awards introduce aspiring writers to the professionals who can propel real writing careers. Over the years, winning screenplays have been optioned, other winners have been produced into full-length feature films; additionally, some winning writers are now well on their way to professional writing careers. The 2011 Ohio Independent Screenplay Awards marks Independent Pictures’ 12th screenplay competition and boasts a seasoned judging process.
Personal coverage and feedback from programmers and readers on your screenplay will be available to every screenplay entrant. Cash prizes are awarded in each of three categories – Best Screenplay, Best Voice of Color Screenplay (written by or about people of color), and Best Northcoast Screenplay (set in or about northern Ohio).
Additionally, one winning screenplay will be chosen to be read at SCRIPT MILL, Independent Pictures’ un-staged screenplay reading program, in November 2011.
Deadlines to submit screenplays for the 2011 screenplay competition are; April 1 (early). Please email ohiofilms@yahoo.com or visit withoutabox.com for Screenplay entry information. Winners will be announced in October 2011.
The Ohio Independent Film Festival is among the leading independent
film events in Ohio. The 2011 OIFF, In May 0f 2011 in Cleveland, Ohio, will mark the 24th festival in 17 years. Like many festivals, the OIFF is a judged and internationally recognized line-up of first-class independent films from around the world.
But here’s what is unique about the OIFF: it only accepts film and video submissions without theatrical distribution and the festival is programmed 100% from those submissions. Additionally, every film and video entrant benefits from personal feedback from festival programmers on his or her film.
So submit your films and videos! Deadlines to submit films and videos for the 2011 OIFF are: March 1, 2011 (early/discounted). Please call (216) 926.6166, or email Ohiofilms@yahoo.com, for film and video entry information. Or visit withoutabox.com to enter via their website.
